CourseCraft launched a series of follow along videos for young learners to develop new skills via their mobile app. They were in the process of introducing a new brand, showcasing a visual language centred on vibrant, child-friendly design components. They connected with me to assist them in translating and developing their brand identity into multifaceted digital experiences. For this, I set a clear objective: to find a scalable and efficient way to express the identity that effectively meets the needs of each stakeholder.

I approached the design system with the following guidelines:

-
Recognising that design systems are products that need to meet the users expectations
-
Design systems should, on one hand, empower teams to work more efficiently, while on the other hand, they need to be flexible enough to meet evolving requirements.
-
Effectively adopting a design system requires coupling design files with comprehensive guidelines and standards.

Retrospective
Establishing the design system as the central point of reference across the business was crucial. I had to consider the changing needs of designers, developers and publishers. The effectiveness of a design system is dependent on the teams ability to correctly use its components. In order for a successful hand over and implementation of the design system I created thorough documentation about the design system, including usage rules, onboarding documents, design components and instructional videos.
